Created by LEGO Masters NZ Season 1 winner and runner-up.
Bricks of Olympus brings ancient cultures, myths, and technology to life through imaginative LEGO® models. Designed to captivate families, school groups, and intergenerational audiences, it delivers visual spectacle, educational depth, and broad public appeal. The exhibition was created by Jake Roos and Emily Fryer for the Teece Museum of Classical Antiquities in Christchurch, where it ran from January to April 2026 — doubling the museum's usual visitor numbers during that period.

A fully automatic theatre inspired by ancient automata, performing seven animated scenes from The Odyssey using moving figures and scenery, narrating statues, lighting, and sound effects. Gods, monsters, storms, and shipwrecks — all in LEGO®.

Six static models bring the lever, wheel and axle, pulley, wedge, ramp, and screw to life with humour and drama. Each uses LEGO® minifigures to show the machines in action — and each is designed to incorporate real artefacts from your museum's own collection.

"We’ve loved hosting Bricks of Olympus at the Teece Museum! The show has been really well received and has doubled our usual visitor numbers for this period. LEGO has such a broad appeal across a wide cross section of the community, so the models have proven to be an excellent drawcard, pulling lots of new families into the Museum that might not otherwise have visited. The playfulness and joy of the models enhanced our displays and worked really well with our focus for educational outreach. It was a pleasure to work alongside Jake and Emily on this project. As you would expect, Jake and Emily showed lots of creative flare and imagination in bringing to life these LEGO creations, but in addition they were thoughtful and professional in their approach to working with museum artefacts, great at communicating with our team and taking on board our feedback, and very efficient at sticking to our agreed schedules."Terri Elder, Curator — Teece Museum of Classical Antiquities
